Our Founder
Barbara Winges Conflitti, ARNP, FNP, IFMCP, CHT, is the founder and director of Anthea Health LLC, a functional medicine healing practice based in Ashland, Oregon.
A Family Nurse Practitioner, with prescriptive authority, Barbara is an active member of both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Institute for Functional Medicine.
She obtained her Master’s Degree and conventional medical training from Georgetown University, as well as her 21st century functional medicine training at The Institute for Functional Medicine.
Her interest in health began at an early age, due to her own family history of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and depression. When she learned that these types of health issues could actually be prevented, she began a dramatic change to improve her own lifestyle and nutrition. She wanted to counterbalance the possibility of developing the diseases and illnesses that affected her family, and she also hoped that her exemplary lifestyle would inspire her family to make similar changes. And this began her lifelong interest in alternative and integrative medicine.
In her free time, Barbara enjoys hiking, backpacking, yoga, and traveling around the globe. In addition, she likes to read especially about mindfulness and keeping up on medical advances in conventional, integrative, and functional medicine.
Purpose
Over the years, Barbara recognized that conventional medicine does not solve the underlying causes of disease and illness to achieve optimal health. She questioned how patients got into the problems in the first place.
This began her interest in Functional Medicine.
